The mission of the program is to develop culturally competent, collaborative, reflective, and visionary leaders who seek to transform schools into quality learning communities for both children and adults. The program provides a strong theoretical foundation coupled with relevant on-the-job experience to offer comprehensive and accountable professional training for the principal candidate.
The PI participant can take from 1-3 years to complete the licensure program and must be employed full-time in a position designated as a school leadership role.
Initial application for approval of an alternative principal license is completed through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Interested candidates complete the CDE application to obtain a statement of eligibility (SOE), which provides the opportunity to seek positions in school leadership and to join an approved alternative licensure program.
